Dear CSA Member, A couple of new things you will notice in your boxes this week. One is the Sugar Snap Pea! These are absolutely delicious! These are great eaten raw, or cooked in a stir fry. Click HERE to see how to peel your sugar snaps. You will also be getting summer squash. We grow a variety of summer squash, so you might see green striped squash, yellow zucchini, green zucchini, or yellow patty pan (a flatter round squash, great for grilling) in your box. I'm sure you have noticed your shares changing from spring to summer's harvest. We hope you enjoy cooking as the seasons change. Fruit Share Members: This week starts your first pickup of fruit. The local fruit farmers did lose a lot of their major spring crops due to the extreme flash freeze in February, then record-setting hot days in April, and then the late frost in May. It was really tough on our fruit farmers locally. The farm has been so supportive of our fruit farmers for close to 30 years and we are very fortunate that they are prioritizing us to fill our fruit shares with what becomes available. It is very important for us to keep supporting our local fruit farmers especially now when they need us most. Sincerely, Candice for Everyone at Stoneledge Farm
