Week 22, October 31
Please note we will be picking up from a different location this week - XAVIER IS Closed because it is in the middle of the Halloween parade route.
The Chelsea CSA has agreed to host us; here's the address and their protocol:
Distribution is from 4pm - 7pm at the Hudson Guild Elliott Center (441 W. 26th Street between 9th and 10th avenues). We expect to be in the main lobby.
We open for pick up right at 4pm and close right at 7pm
Distribution happens right in the lobby. When you arrive, you'll give your name to the person at the sign in table.
Please bring your own bags to carry your veggies home. We do not provide bags.
If you are unable to pick up your share a certain week, it's fine to have someone pick up in your place. Just make sure they have all the necessary details and know to provide your name at sign in.
When you arrive you'll go down the row of crates and the amount to take will be noted on the front of the crate. While we all love veggies, we know everyone doesn't love ALL veggies so at the end of the row there are swap boxes (one for half shares, one for full shares). Once you've picked up the whole share, you are welcome to swap something you don't want for anything in the swap box (but no swapping of herbs).
At the end of the day, all leftover produce is donated to a good cause. We cannot save your share if you are late or unable to pick up as we have no food storage facilities.
Those with half shares please coordinate with your share partners in advance on how you want to handle pick up. Most partners do the following: At distribution, the first share partner to arrive is responsible for dividing the share, labeling a bag with the second partner’s name, and leaving it at the sign-in table for the second person to pick up.

This week you will be getting POP CORN in your share! Along with Daikon Radishes. Below are some helpful tips for using your pop corn Daikon Radishes. recipes for this week!
Pop Corn:
Take the kernels from the cob (by twisting both hands on the cob the kernels will fall off)
Use 1/2 cup of kernels for a large bowl of pop corn or 1 corn cob
Add 1tbl. of oil to large pot with lid.
Add popcorn and cover (do not lift cover until all of the popcorn is popped. If you lift the lid the popcorn will not pop!)
5. Add butter, salt or your favorite and Enjoy.
Pumpkin / Winter Squash Pie: This recipe is universal and you can use pumpkin or winter squash. It is a great recipe! Click Here for the recipe.
Daikon Radish: Daikon Radishes are a milder tasting radish. They become sweeter when they are baked. One of our favorite ways to eat the daikon is by making Crispy Dikon Fries! Enjoy with a meal, snack or appetizer!
Kohlrabi: Kohlrabi slightly crunchy with a little spice to it. It can be eaten raw, make a grated slaw or kohlrabi can be boiled or baked. Click Here for some helpful ways to to prepare and eat kohlrabi.
Enjoy!
